Long Runs by Caleb Andrews lead Kernodle Cougars over Kiser Tigers Monday afternoon at Jamieson Stadium

from Monday afternoon at Jamieson Stadium on the Grimsley High School campus:

Final in Middle School Football and sort of bringing back our ‘Monday in the Middle’ feature….

Kernodle 20
Kiser 6

Caleb Andrews #44 for Kernodle had over 200 yards rushing for the Cougars and he scored on long runs of 80 and 86 yards he was 2-3, on his PAT kicks….Richard Monroe ran for the other Cougar score when he crossed the goal line from 6 yards out….(4:43 2nd Q)
7-0 Kernodle at the end of the 1st Q and then 14-0 Kernodle at halftime…
Andrews’ scores came at the 7:29 mark of the 1st Q and at 6:04 to go in the third…

The Kiser TD came on a strip and score from the Tigers Dustin Goins and ran that fumble take-away 90 yards all the way back to ‘The House’ for the touchdown….Goins goes in with 4:38 left in the 4th Q/the game…Several nice runs today by Rob Dalton, from the Kiser Tigers….

First game of the year for both teams from what we are hearing and that puts Kernodle at (1-0) and Kiser falls to (0-1) early in the season….Kernodle was a powerhouse for several years under head coach Quincy Bell, but now Coach Bell is the head junior varsity coach at Northeast Guilford….

Kernodle has a strong team and they did see this game end on one bad note even with the victory….Kernodle lost their quarterback, #11(Grey Bellenkes), when he took a hard, but clean hit late in the game and #11(Bellenkes) was down on the field for an extended period of time and we hope the young man will be able to return to the Cougars lineup at some point this season…

The EMT’s were called in and let’s keep #11(Grey Bellenkes) in your thoughts and prayers tonight and know he looks to return to school on Tuesday and then all the schools will only be in session for a half-a-day on Wednesday with early dismissal at 1pm….

Let’s show our support for #11 Kernodle Cougars and look for him in the future, as he tries to make his triumphant return to the football field…

We are going to have to give a “Monday in the Middle” game ball to #44 for Kernodle today, as Caleb Andrews thoroughly dominated this afternoon’s game on offense with over 200 yards rushing and two TD’s, with two PAT kicks and the kid was playing like a Luke Kuechly on defense from his linebacker spot….#12 Monroe a big game for Kernodle too and let’s throw out a game ball to #11 in hopes that kid will be up and moving around again soon….

  1. Nice move by the Kiser coaches and players to wait at the ambulance. Showed a lot of class, and was much appreciated.

  2. Proud of the entire Cougar team and fans! Hats off to Kiser for a hard fought game and first class gesture toward our injured QB! As for #44…you’ve become an outstanding football player and your father is very proud of you! Hard work does pay off! Always remember…”not one player is before the team, and the team makes individual performance possible!” Proud of you man…much love!

  3. Congrats to the Cougar team on their win last night. It was a total team effort from offense to defense. Prayers go up for Grey that he makes a speedy recovery.

  4. Coach Linz is quite arguably the top middle school coach in the county. He allegedly watches hours of film to prepare his Cougar squad!!
