Elon Voleyball Phoenix Welcomes Aggies to Alumni Gym on Wednesday

ELON, N.C. – The Elon volleyball team (3-7) renews its long history with North Carolina A&T (0-11) in a mid-week match on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m. in Alumni Gym. The match will be live streamed for free through Phoenix All-Access.

Looking Back
The Phoenix struggled last weekend in the Hampton Inn & Suites of Holly Springs Invitational in Buies Creek, N.C. After falling to North Florida in five sets, the maroon and gold dropped matches to South Carolina, 3-0, and Campbell, 3-1. Despite the losses, Elon saw strong play from Kayla Agae who posted two double-doubles and was named to the all-tournament team.

Elon vs. North Carolina A&T
Wednesday marks the 36th meeting between Elon and N.C. A&T. The maroon and gold owns the series record, 26-9, that dates back to 1978. Under Tendler, Elon is 5-1 against the Aggies and has won the last four match ups in straight sets. A&T is led by head coach Hal Clifton who served previously as Tendler’s assistant coach at Elon from 2005-10.

Looking Ahead
The Phoenix closes out tournament play this weekend in the Deacon Classic in Winston-Salem, N.C. Elon faces former Southern Conference foe Western Carolina on Friday, Sept. 19, at 5 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 20, Elon plays Winthrop at 11 a.m. and concludes the tournament at 7 p.m. against host Wake Forest.
