Elon’s Badmaev Snares CAA Womnen’s Golf Player of the Week Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – Elon sophomore Kelsey Badmaev became the first ever Phoenix woman to claim a CAA player of the week honor as she was recognized as the league’s women’s golfer of the week on Wednesday. Badmaev picked up the recognition after claiming her first career medalist honor at the William & Mary Invitational.

Badmaev, a native of Blythewood, S.C., fired an even-par 216 (75-70-71) in the 54-hole event, which included a career-low round of two-under par 70 on Monday. She finished on top of the 70-player individual leaderboard by one stroke and helped Elon to the team championship over 12 other squads. The Phoenix, which led all three rounds of the tournament, has won three of its past five tournaments.

This is the second career conference player of the week accolade of Badmaev’s career in the maroon and gold.

Badmaev and the Phoenix will be back in action Sept. 29-30 at the Forest Oaks Fall Classic in Greensboro, N.C.
