GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College dropped a Wednesday evening contest to Methodist University, 2-0.
The Monarchs scored their two goals in the first 23 minutes of play. Methodist’s (1-4) Victoria Martins put the Monarchs on the board in the 12th minute, 1-0. 11 minutes later, Deycasha Miller used a breakaway to score the Monarchs’ second goal to increase their lead, 2-0.
Guilford and Methodist held the score in check throughout the duration of the contest with the Monarchs holding the edge in shots, 14-1. Methodist also held a narrow edge on corner kicks, 5-3.
Caitlin Young made four saves in net for the Quakers. Methodist’s Taylor Ross held the shutout in net for the Monarchs.
The Quakers (0-6-1) return to action Saturday, traveling to Washington and Lee University for a noon contest.
