Football (1-2)

• The Phoenix gave head coach Rich Skrosky his first win with the program by defeating Charlotte 20-13 on Saturday. It marked the sixth game in Elon’s last 10 that has been decided by a touchdown or less.
• Senior quarterback Mike Quinn set a new Elon record by completing 43 passes against the 49ers. The previous record of 41 completions was held by Scott Riddle, who set the mark against Wofford in 2007.
• Elon will wrap up its non-conference portion of the schedule this weekend as the Phoenix travels to take on Coastal Carolina. The two teams have met just three times before, including last year at Rhodes Stadium. The Chanticleers have been ranked in the top seven all season.
• Fans can preview this weekend’s tilt with against Coastal Carolina at either the Inside the Huddle Luncheon on Monday or at the Elon Football Live Radio Show on Thursday. The luncheon is held from noon until 1 p.m. at the Best Western Plus on Huffman Mill Road in Burlington and the cost to attend is $10 and includes a catered lunch by Grill 584. The radio show is broadcast live from the Fat Frogg Bar & Grill in Elon on Thursday from 7-8 p.m. and can be heard live on WPCM 95.1 FM and 920 AM as well as at elonphoenix.com.

Men’s Golf
Elon at Rees Jones Invitational, Monday – Tuesday, Sept. 22 – 23, Daufuskie Island, S.C.

• The Phoenix opened play in its second tournament of the fall on Sunday by shooting a 299 to sit in sixth place out of 11 teams at the Rees Jones Invitational.
• Both Will DiIanni and Jeff Krieger shot a one-over-par 73 and are tied for ninth out of the 63 participants.
• In its first event of the year, the Tar Heel Intercollegiate, the Phoenix placed in a tie for fourth out of 18 programs. DiIanni’s final round (-7) helped him to a 14th-place tie in the individual standings.

Men’s Soccer (3-2-2)
Elon at Coastal Carolina, Friday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m., Conway, S.C.

• The Phoenix travels to former Big South conference foe Coastal Carolina on Friday, Sept. 26. It is the first meeting between the two programs since Elon defeated the then sixth-ranked Chanticleers last season, 2-1, at Rudd Field. The victory was the Phoenix’s second versus a top-10 team last season and tied Elon’s highest win ever against a ranked opponent.
• Elon battled Radford to a 1-1 draw last Saturday, Sept. 20, in its most recent contest. The Phoenix’s Rett Webb scored his first career goal in the match to tie the game late in the second half.
• As a team, Elon currently leads the Colonial Athletic Association in shutouts with four in its seven matches this season. Senior goalkeeper Nathan Dean has 20 career clean sheets and is just two away from tying former Elon and current Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Clint Irwin (2007-10) on the top of the school’s all-time list.

Men’s Tennis
Elon Fall Invitational, Friday – Sunday, Sept. 26 – 28, Jimmy Powell Tennis Center

• The Elon men’s tennis team hosts the annual Elon Fall Invitational this weekend, Friday – Sunday, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
• Elon is coming off an impressive showing at the 49er Invitational in Charlotte, N.C., last weekend. Robert Lindgren and Juan Madrid both won singles titles at the event, in addition to capturing a doubles title together. Chris Humphreys and Neal Port also won a doubles title together for the Phoenix.

Volleyball (4-10)
Elon at North Carolina Central, Tuesday, Sept. 23, 7 p.m., Durham, N.C.
Elon vs. Hofstra, Friday, Sept. 26, 7 p.m., Alumni Gym
Elon vs. Northeastern, Sunday, Sept. 28, 2 p.m., Alumni Gym

• Elon picked up a mid-week win over North Carolina A&T, 3-0, last week before competing in its last tournament of the season in the Deacon Classic where Sydney Busa was named to the all-tournament team.
• After a match on Tuesday at North Carolina Central, Elon plays its first Colonial Athletic Association match in school history on Friday when it hosts Hofstra in Alumni Gym. The match represents another first for the Phoenix as the two programs have never met before.
• The Phoenix closes out its first weekend of CAA matches with Northeastern on Sunday. Elon played the Huskies back in 2012 in the Duke Challenge.

Women’s Soccer (4-4)
Elon vs. Hofstra, Friday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m., Rudd Field
Elon vs. Northeastern, Sunday, Sept. 28, at 1 p.m., Rudd Field

• The Phoenix women’s soccer team plays its first Colonial Athletic Association contest on Friday night, Sept. 26, at Rudd Field when Elon welcomes preseason favorite Hofstra to campus. On Sunday, the maroon and gold hosts Northeastern.
• Elon wrapped up its non-conference slate with a 2-0 shutout against Gardner-Webb on Friday, Sept. 19. Taylor Casey (42’) and Sydney Schilling (72’) both knocked in their first goals of the season to lead Elon to victory.
• Phoenix head coach Chris Neal earned his 100th career victory on Sept. 19 against Gardner-Webb. Neal has 64 wins as Elon’s head coach and 36 victories as the head men’s soccer coach at Pfeiffer.
