LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Elon University softball team had six members of its program earn All-America Scholar Athlete honors for the 2013-14 academic year by the National Fastpitch Softball Association (NFCA) as announced by the organization on Thursday, Oct. 2.

Current players Carey Million, Emily Roper and Katie Rufo along with former Phoenix players Ali Ford, Lauren Oldham and Johanna Spencer earned the honor on the strength of their academic performances in the 2013-14 school year.

The award is bestowed upon any player submitted by a member coach who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2013-14 academic year. The honor marks the second component of the Association’s academic award program.

The Phoenix received All-Academic Team honors after posting a team GPA of 3.198, ranking among the top 75 academic teams in collegiate softball. Elon also had five members of the program on the Southern Conference All-Academic team last season.
