GC Pride Football Stumbles Against Huntingdon 51-14

HUNTINGDON, Al. – Following a bye week, the Greensboro College football team returned to conference action on Saturday afternoon at Huntingdon College. In the contest, the Pride fell by a 51-14 score.

Huntingdon got on the board first just three minutes into the game taking a 7-0 lead. After the Hawks took the early lead, Greensboro College was able to come back just three minutes later to tie the game at 7-7. Ryan Throndset connected with Gregory Clifton for a 15 yard strike to put the Pride on the board followed by an Amilicar Martinez extra point.

However, Huntingdon was able to score 23 unanswered points to take a 30-7 lead. Greensboro College found the end zone for the final time of the day with nine minutes to play when Throndset once again connected with Clifton for a touchdown strike.

The Hawks would find the end zone two more times in the contest en route to the 54-14 win.

Greensboro College’s Throndset finished the day with 171 yards through the air with two touchdowns on 14 completions. Clifton accumulated 26 yards on the day including the two touchdowns while Raymond Bridges led the way with 40 receiving yards.

Herebert Bridges and Chase Sams each accumulated nine tackles on the day to lead the Pride defense. Micah McMaster picked off his first opponent pass on the season, while James McClease recovered a fumble for Greensboro College.

With the loss, the Pride football team falls to 1-3 overall on the season and 1-1 in USA South conference play. The Greensboro College football team will return to action next Saturday when they travel to take on the Monarchs of Methodist University in another USA South Athletic Conference showdown. The kickoff is set for 1:00 PM.
