College Men’s Soccer Final – Lynchburg 3, Guilford 0

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College dropped a Wednesday evening Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest to Lynchburg College, 3-0.

Lynchburg’s Fredy Flores struck early for the Hornets inside the 18-yard box, receiving an Earl Rimbey cross from the left side for the game’s first goal in the 2nd minute. Brandon Webster picked up Lynchburg’s second goal in the 39th minute on a breakaway up the middle of the field. Ben Grossfuss posted Lynchburg’s only second half goal off a deflection, heading the ball into the net inside the six-yard box to widen the lead, 3-0.

Lynchburg outshot Guilford, 19-9, and held the advantage on corner kicks, 7-1.

Marko Mandalinic made five saves in net for the Quakers before being replaced by Eric Hayes (Greensboro, N.C./Ragsdale) for the final 16:35 of the contest. Lynchburg’s Sam Cannon made three stops.

Guilford (4-8-1, 3-2-1 ODAC) return to action Saturday, traveling to Eastern Mennonite University for a 7 p.m. ODAC contest.
