College Women’s Soccer Final – Shenandoah 3, Guilford 0

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Catherine Major’s two second half goals led Shenandoah University to a Saturday afternoon Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory over Guilford College, 3-0.

The Hornets’ Carly Ferguson fed Major through the middle of the box for Shenandoah’s 28th minute goal to pull ahead, 1-0. In the 38th minute, Alysha McCleaf’s cross found Major in the box to double the score. Jennifer Nguyen capitalized on a cross into the center of the 18-yard box from Danielle Burris in the 67th minute to increase the score.

The Hornets’ outshot the Quakers, 20-6, while holding the narrow edge on corner kicks, 5-3.

Caitlin Young made eight saves in net for the Quakers. Shenandoah’s Erin Septer stopped two shots before being replaced by Nicole Pratt to start the second half. Rebecca Angerome relieved Pratt for the final 9:24 of the game.

Guilford returns to action Wednesday, hosting Lynchburg College for a 6 p.m. ODAC contest.
