HPU Men’s Golf Finishes 15th at the Camden Collegiate Invitational

• High Point shot 303 in the final round of the Camden Collegiate Invitational.
• Sophomore Jack Sides had the best round of the day for HPU with a 74.
• Sides and senior LJ Georgetti tied for 51st to lead the Panthers.

CAMDEN, S.C. – The High Point University men’s golf team shot a combined 303 in the third and final round of the Camden Collegiate Invitational on Sunday to finish in 15th with a total score of 922. Senior LJ Georgetti and sophomore Jack Sides tied for 51st to lead HPU.

“We played better than yesterday which was good to see,” head coach Greg Flesher said. “Jack Sides shot well today, he struggled early but bounced back on the back nine. This was a great learning experience for our young team. This is a great tournament with a great field and now we will get ready for Kiawah Island.”

Sides carded the best round of the day for High Point on Sunday with a 74 to finish with a three-round score of 225 (74-77-74). Georgetti shot 75 and ended tied with Sides with a 54-hole score of 225 (78-72-75).

Redshirt-freshman AJ Hopkins finished in 75th with a score of 236 (83-78-75) while freshman Alex Hefner finished in 76th with a score of 237 (81-77-79). Freshman Emile Menard ended the tournament in 80th with a three-round score of 242 (85-77-80).

Host South Carolina turned in a combined score of 275 to move into first in the team standings with a total score of 847 (288-284-275). Wofford dropped to second with a score of 848 (284-281-283), one stroke behind the Gamecocks. Furman finished third with a score of 865 (290-284-291) while Big South squads Charleston Southern (867) and Radford (872) rounded out the top five.

Day-one leader Brennan Hudson shot a 71 in the final round and earned the individual medal with a score of 201 (67-63-71). Hudson finished six-strokes up on teammate Jeremy Grab and Ryan Cornfield of USC Upstate.

High Point wraps up the fall season at the Wendy’s Kiawah Classic in Charleston, S.C., beginning on Sunday, Nov. 2.
