GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College scored the game’s first four goals in a Wednesday night Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory over Emory & Henry College, 7-3.

The Quakers scored their first three goals within the first 20 minutes of play thanks to senior Dakota Rock’s first collegiate goal on senior night and Christian Torres’s (Greensboro, N.C./Southeast Guilford) back-to-back goals.

A 2:24 stretch spanning the end of the first half and the beginning of the second half produced three combined goals beginning with Cody Griffith’s left-post goal in the 44th minute to put Emory & Henry on the board. Kyle Bias responded 30 seconds later from a feed from Chase Beguin to close the first half. The Wasps’ Jimmy Wilmouth responded 1:54 later, early in the second half, for the Wasps second goal.

With 14:46 remaining, the game closed with three more combined goals in 6:16. Colin Dillon picked up his second assist of the night, feeding Albion Ida to increase the Quaker lead, 6-2. Jared Eiriksson responded for the Wasps 2:46 later to cut the deficit. Albion Ida added an assist to his evening when he fed Corey McDonough 3:30 minutes later.

The Quakers outshot the Wasps, 26-11, and held the edge on corner kicks, 9-0.

Marko Mandalinic made three saves in net for the Quakers. Emory & Henry’s Didier Grillet stopped nine shots in the first half before being relieved by Daniel Scharisch, who made four second-half saves.

The Quakers (5-9-2, 4-3-2 ODAC) return to action Saturday, traveling to Bridgewater College for a 4 p.m. ODAC contest.
