College Women’s Soccer Final – Virginia Wesleyan 3, Guilford 0

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – After keeping Virginia Wesleyan College in check during the first half, Guilford College dropped a Saturday afternoon Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest to Virginia Wesleyan, 3-0.

Cat Galway’s goal in the 26th minute represented the only goal for the Marlins in the first half. The Quakers held the Marlins to just ten shots in the first half with four of the ten of which came in the final 6:15 of the first period.

Galway added an assist in the 64th minute of the second half, feeding Annie Hartman to increase the Marlin lead, 2-0. The Marlins added to their lead in the 87th minute when Lauren Shular found Rachel Laulette.

The Marlins outshot the Quakers, 20-3, and held the edge on corner kicks, 12-1.

Caitlyn Young made 11 saves in net for the Quakers. Virginia Wesleyan’s Megan Gerhart played all 90 minutes, earning the shutout.

The Quakers return to action Tuesday, traveling to Roanoke College for a 4:30 p.m. ODAC contest, their final regular season game.
