GC Pride Men’s Soccer Claims USA South Regular Season Crown

MARYVILLE, TN – The Greensboro College Pride men’s soccer team claimed the USA South Athletic Conference regular season title by defeating Maryville College 1-0 on Saturday on afternoon. The Pride also made it seven straight victories with the win today.

Greensboro got on the board first in the 38th minute when Warren Washington found the back of the net off an assist by Asa Britten for the early 1-0 lead. The goal was Washington’s first collegiate goal for the Pride. The Pride held the Scots scoreless down the stretch and took the 1-0 lead into the intermission.

In the second half of play, the Pride was able to keep the Scots off the board en route to the 1-0 victory.

The Pride outshot Maryville 11-4 and 6-1 with shots on target. Greensboro also had 10 corner kicks to the Scots four. Shaun Watt led the way with three shots, while Craig Gage and George Dimopoulos had two shots apiece.

Logan Rohde picked up the win in goal for the Pride recording his eighth shutout on the season and making one save.

Greensboro concludes the regular season with a 11-6 overall record and 9-1 USA South record. The Pride will await the USA South tournament draw to see who their Quarter-Final matchup will be against.
