Former Elon Standout Koch Selected in NBA D-League Draft

WILMINGTON, Del. – Former Elon University men’s basketball standout Sebastian Koch was selected in the second round (35th overall) of the NBA D-League Draft by the Delaware 87ers on Saturday, Nov. 1. Koch now looks to make the 87er’s 10-man roster at training camp, which begins tomorrow.

Koch ended his career at Elon with 1,120 career points (29th all-time) and 242 three-pointers made, good for third in school history. The Munich, Germany, native was a second-team All-Southern Conference selection last season after averaging 11.7 points per game in 32 contests for the Phoenix. Koch was named the SoCon Player of the Week on Dec. 17 last season after scoring a career-high 27 points at 21st-ranked Colorado. Koch connected on nine threes at Colorado, the most in a single game during Elon’s Division I era.

Koch is now one of three players from last year’s graduating class to play professional basketball. Ryley Beaumont is currently in the Czech Republic playing for the BK Nova Hut Ostrava basketball club, while Lucas Troutman is in Spain playing for Club Baloncesto Peñas Huesca.

The 87ers are led by head development coach Kevin Young. The team competes in Newark, Del., at the Bob Carpenter Center located on the campus of the University of Delaware.
