High School Football Saturday morning rewind:Stoner stands the test of time/Graves saves his Best for Page

After a couple of season-ending shoulder surgeries Southern Guilford senior Nathan Stoner has proved he can pass the test of time…..His Storm team just completed a perfect regular season with their 35-21 victory over Ledford on Friday night and Stoner put up some key numbers that will stand the test of time…Nathan Stoner finished with 302 yards and two touchdowns on 19-of-29 passing on offense and made two fourth-quarter interceptions on defense for Southern….SG’s Ron Hunt made 12 catches for 159 yards and a TD, while Reggie Gallaspy scored 4 TD’s and caught the game-winner on a 58 yard pass from Stoner….Nice numbers for Southern Guilford and a nice way to close out the regular season and await the playoffs at (11-0)…Storm RB Gallaspy held in check running with 39 yards on 21 carries, but he grabbed 3 key passes for 65 yards…

Dudley’s Darius Graves did his part for the Panthers rushing for 152 yards on 13 carries with a real long one of 96 yards and Graves hit the end zone for two touchdowns and 4, count ’em, four two-point conversions….Shades of Major Bryant on those two-point conversion runs by Graves, but Bryant was a power-man and Graves has the speed to go with his power and on a couple of those two-point runs, he hit the corner/edge and went untouched into the paydirt….Hendon Hooker with two TD passes for Dudley, one of 53 yards to Brandon Person-Boyd up the left sideline and the other one went 27 yards to Christian Cokely in the right corner of the end zone…

Bubba Craven did his job for the Southeast Guilford Falcons and the senior stalwart is fast approaching the 1,000 yard passing mark for the season…He was right around the 720 yard mark going into last night’s game and the SEG QB hit for 181 yards and two TD tossing tallies in the Falcons’ win over Grimsley….Fellow-Falcon senior Gregg Liggs(WR) had two touchdowns for SEG, one running and one receiving and RB Garrett Church added two more rushing TD’s for the Falcons..

Sophomore Chavis Little helped High Point Central stay hot and keep the fire burning, with 195 ground yards and 3 TD’s…Little is taking a lot of the pressure/heat off of Bison QB Jamiel Mack these days….Mack did his part in the kitchen though, with 169 yards rushing and 150 yards passing, plus he had two TD’s running and 1 TD throwing…Mack carried the ball 11 times and threw the pigskin 17 times, completing 9 of those….

T.J. Parker had a big night for Ragsdale in the Tigers’ loss to East Forsyth with 147 yards receiving on 10 catches for two TD’s…Zach McLean was the big back for High Point Christian last evening, as the Cougar senior football/baseball player ran for 200 yards and two HPCA touchdowns…HPCA got past North Raleigh Christian 28-20….

In the High Point Andrews 54-0 win over Wheatmore, you had the Red Raiders Travis Steele leading the rushing attack with 171 yards and touchdowns of 32 and 7 yards….

Tyrell Dumpson with two touchdowns for Smith and Janon Cooper with two interceptions for the Golden Eagles….

Isaiah Finerty had 62 yards receiving for Eastern Guilford on 5 receptions and he scored one touchdown….

Andre Griffin(Northeast Guilford) intercepted a Tre McCollum(Western Alamance) pass and raced 60 yards for the NEG Rams’ only score of the night…

Anybody got any Northwest Guilford or Northern Guilford numbers???

More to follow as we look around……….

Like most of our contest entries this week, perfect on the Picks from last night….

  1. The Nighthawks defense posted it’s 2nd shutout in a row and 3rd in the last 4 games. Cam Harris went 9-13 for 226 yards and 3 touchdowns, CJ Freeman had 11 carries for 145 yards and 3 touchdowns, Tre Marsh had 3 receptions for 87 yards and 2 touchdowns, Tristen Simmons caught a touchdown pass and also went 7 for 8 on extra point kicks. 445 yards of total offense. All stats are posted on Maxpreps.

Don’t count the Nighthaws out, yes we lost to Eastern Alamance by 4 but the ‘Hawks really beat themselves, 18 penalties called against the Nighthawks – 3 touchdowns called back!
