RICHMOND, Va. – Redshirt sophomore Chad Craig of the Elon University men’s soccer team was named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Rookie of the Week on Monday, Nov. 3, as announced by the conference office.

Craig helped the Phoenix to a 2-1 double-overtime victory at College of Charleston last Wednesday, Oct. 29. The striker from Gilbertsville, Pa., tied the match with his second goal of the season in the 70th minute of action then assisted on the game-winning score in the 105th minute. The win extended the Elon’s unbeaten streak to seven matches and clinched the Phoenix a berth in the upcoming CAA Men’s Soccer Championship.

Along with his two scores, Craig is tied for the team-lead in assists with two and has six total points on the year. He has appeared in 15 out of the team’s 18 matches this season in his first year of collegiate soccer.

The fourth-seeded Phoenix returns to the pitch on Saturday, Nov. 8, to host fifth-seeded Northeastern in the opening round of the CAA Men’s Soccer Championships. Kickoff is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Rudd Field.
