High Point Christian falls short to Oak Hill

In their first regular season game, High Point Christian Academy took to the road to battle national powerhouse Oak Hill Academy.

Despite a slow start, the HPCA Cougars went into the half down just three after a last-second three pointer from Casey Penland.

Oak Hill tried to pull away numerous times in the second half, but High Point Christian created problems for the Warriors with their pressure defense.

After getting the score to within four points with five minutes to go, Oak Hill converted on several low-post buckets and stole the momentum of the game with several alley-oop dunks, finishing off the Cougars 74-52.

The Warriors’ Dwayne Bacon led all scorers with 24 points. The Cougars were led by senior guard Michael Provenzano’s 12 points and 5 assists. Juniors Ben Robertson and Amidou Bamba added 10 points and 5 rebounds each.

HPCA looks to bounce back against Huntington Prep on Saturday at Forsyth Country Day School at 9 p.m.
