College Football News – Guilford’s Pawlowski Wins Third ODAC Offensive Player of the Week Award

FOREST Va. – Guilford College’s Matt Pawlowski (Greensboro, N.C./Northwest Guilford) collected his third Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Offensive Football Player of the Week Award Sunday. The announcement marks the junior’s eighth weekly honor of his career.

Pawlowski, a 6-2, 190-pound quarterback, completed 38-of-48 passes for 389 yards and five touchdowns in the Quakers’ 52 – 28 victory over Emory & Henry College November 15 at Fred Selfe Stadium in Emory, Va. Pawlowski also rushed 15 times for 43 yards.

Pawlowski ends the season as the ODAC lead in most major passing statistics. He completed a school-record 67.8% of his passes while throwing for 3476 yards and 38 touchdowns, also a Guilford standard. He ranks second in NCAA Division III in passing yards (3476), passing yards per game (347.6), and points responsible for (236). Pawlowski also ranks third in NCAA Division III in total offense (372.1) and first in passing touchdowns (38). His 3,476 passing yards ranks third in Guilford history.

Pawlowski’s play has elevated him on Guilford’s career passing charts. After 30 college contests, he already holds Guilford’ second-highest number of passing touchdowns (77) and completions (645). He also stands second in career passing yards (8,292) and passing attempts (1,019).

Coach Chris Rusiewicz’s Quakers finished the season with an 8-2 (5-2 ODAC) record and tied for first place in the ODAC standings. Guilford tied the school record for wins in a season and posted the most wins since 1997.
