Page Pirates home vs. Northeast Guilford in both men’s and women’s games on Tuesday night at the Mac Morris Gym

*****There may be other games going down as well, and if you know of any, please shoot them our way…..*****
The games were not listed at MaxPreps.com, but upon further review of the Winter Sports Schedule for the Page Pirates sent out to us by Page Athletic Director Rusty Lee, we see Page versus the Northeast Guilford Rams in both women’s and men’s basketball on Tuesday/tomorrow night….

Women’s game at 6pm and Men will follow at 7:30…..First regular season game for the Lady Pirates since the departure by graduation of All-State product Paris Kea, one of the top female basketball players in the history of our area…..The Page men will be playing their first game under the leadership of new head coach Matt Harder and he will be assisted by his father John Harder…..The Page men have four possible DI potentials with senior Xavier Hill-Mais having already committed to Oakland University in Michigan and juniors Ty Graves, Diondre Overton and Jalen Seegars very high on many college lists at this current time….The point guard may well be Tyren, the small young man who came off of the bench last season late in the games and Graves can and will run the point and the show when necessary and there is nobody around here any stronger on the inside, down in that low post, than Hill-Mais….Hill-Mais is emotional, but there will never be any doubting his toughness on the inside…..Graves can run the floor and can hit the spot-up three and Overton has power and range and Seegars is very smooth and he will 10 rebounds for you before you can look up and check to see how much time is left on the game clock…..Dale Holder should have the call of the game on the PA System at Page on Tuesday night and he is one of the tops in Triad….Don’t know a thing about Coach Curtis Hunter’s team that is coming back, so I may need to get out there and see for myself how strong the Rams are going to be in 2014…..I can still remember this game as the opener back in 2013(Fall) at NEG and Anthony Eaves hit for 9 three’s that night and ended up scoring something like 38-40 points….Eaves could not miss on those three’s up on Hicone Road last year and now he is at Ballard High School in Louisville, the school that produced his dad Jerry Eaves and I think they turned out Jeff Lamp, Lee Raker, Terry Gates and maybe Jeff Jones, all of UVA-fame too…..Most of, if not all of those guys are from Louisville and or Kentucky high schools…..

The NEG girls will have a new coach, as coach Audrey Ramsey stepped down at the end of last season and the NEG Rams were just starting to jell with Ariel Ellis and others coming around and we will see how far the Lady Pirates of Page have come, minus Paris Kea tomorrow night….Bailey Kargo is back, I think Tiana Sherman may be back for one more go around and Campbell Kargo is still on the mend after reconstructive knee surgery…..

The Page girls team has three sets of sisters with Bailey and Campbell Kargo, Emily and Ava Casper, plus twins Jillian Heard and Emma Heard…..Having met several of these young ladies, they are a great group of kids and they do not take nights off….I have been watching Emily Casper play basketball now for a few years and she will be there going all-out every night and you know the Kargo kids can shoot lights out and Ava Casper plus the Heard sisters have all entered Page coming in from a highly successful program at St. Pius, where they were coached by Kristen Shelton…..The Page girls will play hard and they will play together as a team…

*****Have you ever really studied you kinfolk(family connections) or thought about trying to climb your family tree??? At Page, climbing the family tree might be better served for you to include the time as a field trip, or day-long excursion when look at the fact that you have those Kargo sisters, the Casper sisters, the Heard twin sisters, plus as we get just about half-way up that Page Pirate family tree you find:
Senior Pirate Captain Janie Pierce has a twin brother Ben. Two girls on the JV team have a twin, LaLa Hemingway has a twin sister Mikayla, who cheers for Page and Madison Kohls has a twin brother Mason. Emma and Jillian Heard and LaLa and Mikayla Hemingway were actually born on the same day, same doctor.*****
(Probably more than you need to know, but what the heck, the season is young and so are most of these players.)

  1. C’mon Andy is this the only game you can do a preview of???? There are more games going on than just this one

  2. Page girls have a new freshman point guard that came over from Greensboro day school. She will run the show for page this season. Page brought the undfeated st pius girls team over so they have a lot freshman to rely on. Boys team will be strong again with Graves and company being a year older. Should be another exciting year of hoops!

  3. A well written article about the page boys varsity team with returning players but some key factors were missing some jv.players also made the team one such as Brandon Talton with his size and understanding of the game his defense and ability to create and score around the basket he should give much need support

  4. Paris Kea with 11 points in her first college game and then 10 points in her second college game for Vanderbilt…

Paris got the 11 points in a win over Belmont and the 10 points came in a start, starting in just her second college game and that was in an Overtime win over Green Bay Wisconsin….

A little different look, but Paris is now wearing #41…

Didn’t the Talton kid have a sister that played for Page a few years back….

  5. Andy I don’t mean any harm but you had a feature on Kea already with that same info. Stop force feeding us. Let’s save the high school for high school. We have plenty of talent here to talk about.

  6. Sometime you have to put it both places so the people will see it…Not everybody sees or reads the comments…

I work hard to get my key/Kea points across, so stick with me, you never know we might go places….
