GC Pride Women Charge Past Mustangs 79-30

GREENSBORO, NC – The Greensboro College women’s basketball team made their first appearance of the season on Mayo C. Harlow Memorial Court on Monday night. The Pride welcomed the Mustangs of Mid-Atlantic Christian and came away with a 79-30 victory.

Greensboro College took a thirty point lead into the halftime break at 48-18, and was able to extend the margin in the second half for the 79-30.

The Pride had sixteen different players see the court in the game with fourteen of them finding the scoring column.

Tiffani Stephens recorded her first double double of the season recording 11 points and 11 rebounds. Vontreece Hayes led all scorers with 16 points while Azha McNeil contributed 10 points.

The Pride was able to force the Mustangs into 44 turnovers that resulted in 50 points for the green and white. Joslyn Spires, McNiel, and Stephens each recorded three steals in the game. Tiffani Stephens, Kamerin Williams, and Syerra Troutman aided in a season high six blocks for the Greensboro women.

“We played a good game today and we were able to execute on things we have been working on in practice,” said Pride Head Coach Randy Tuggle. “This was a great opportunity for our coaching staff to get the whole team involved in the game to see what we need to work on throughout the season.”

The Greensboro women move their overall record to 4-0 on the season. The Pride will return to Mayo C. Harlow Memorial Court on Monday night when Johnson & Wales comes to town.
