Graham Sporting Goods High School Basketball Tonight for 11/25/14:EG boys upset Page/NWG-NG details for girls and boys

^^^^^This one sort of got my attention this morning:Southeast Guilford girls 48, Southwest Guilford 35^^^^^
*****More scores from the blender:Grimsley boys 70, Mt. Tabor 56Smith boys 95, Bartlett Yancey 52…*****+++++Durham Hillside 64, Dudley 60+++++
Final now in Eastern Guilford:Eastern Guilford boys 79, Page 67….EG(1-1) and Page(1-1)….For Eastern you had Quayson Williams with 28 points, Kalen Cotton with 21, Terrell Pickett posted 14, Montez Venable was there with 7 points, Tre McLean popped for four, Kyree Lundy and Maurice Brown had 2 a-piece and Khalil Cole added 1 for the Wildcats…Leading the way for Page was Jalen Seegars with 26, Will Jones had 12, Diondre Overton had 11, David Funderburg had 8, Tyren Melton, Bryant McGowan and Brandon Tarleton all had 3 points each and James Ellis added two for Page…

Don Moore has tons of scores on the Twitterverse post for tonight, so you can hit both posts and get as many scores as you like…The Page boys were trailing Eastern Guilford 65-45 with one quarter left to play down at Eastern Guilford and the Wildcats are looking for the upset tonight…All boys scores:
Ragsdale 55, Southern Guilford 54….Morehead 63, Western Guilford 53…..HPCA 66, New Garden 56…Bishop 63, WS Christian 56….Would like to see HPCA vs. WS Christian one night….Southern Alamance boys 70, Graham 46…..

This just in courtesy of Heath Lineberry over at Western Guilford, WG girls topped Morehead 34-30 and the Morehead girls rolled over WG 73-49 and those two scores coming in from Heath Lineberry at Western….

At Northwest Guilford the Vikings took two from Northern Guilford and the girls game it was NWG 55-52 over the Nighthawks with the Vikings coming through with balanced scoring and they had key free throws from Catherine Moore, Hayley Barber, Morgan Pointer and Toni Tucker down the stretch to help put this game away…Tucker led the way with 13 points and then Pointer had 11, Savannah Neas had 8, Barber and Leigh Wallace had 7 each, Hunter Newman and Moore had 4 each and Bria Gibbs hit a free throw to get the Vikings on top…

NG girls:The Nighthawks had Elissa Cunane and Kasey Johnson with 14 points each there to led the way and you had Kassie Robakiewicz with 8 points, Sydney Wilson and Sammi Furlough had 6 each and then Kelli Lomax and Lasha Seaton came in with 2 a-piece….Cunane is going to be a terror for all teams to defend as she gets older and stronger and she can shoot free throws so ease up on the fouls when you are on her in the middle….She is very tall, very young, but on her way to future post office…

In the boys game we saw Northwest take it 82-66 after going into the halftime break with a lead of 21 points, at 50-29….Northwest Guilford boys might turn out to be a force…They don’t have much of a presence on the inside, but this team is loaded with guards….Jalen Spicer led the Vikings with 24 points, Jaylin Gore added 19 and there’s your top tier two guards right there and they both can run the point and I will just say this, “Who the heck is Sam Covington?”….This kid came out red-hot/white hot, hot chocolate, take your pick and he hit for 23 big NWG points and he nailed at least 5 three-pointers…NWG was killing the three tonight and Northern was stoked on the inside with their big men having a field day….We have Jack Emerick with at least 24 points, Sam Hildreth with no less than 15 and a load of rebounds, Josh Gibson right at 12 points and more rebounds, Matt Graham with 7 points, Jared Boyd with 6 for NG and Andy Pack with 2…..

A good fans’ game and NWG should do OK this season and if they shore up things on the inside and cut down on the opponent’s second-chance opportunities they will do fine….We were going wild on Spicer, Gore and Covington and now we know who Sam is, and we also found Tre Turner with 7 for the Vikings Reggie Davis and Thomas Hennigan had 5 each and Kevin Henry added one….Tre Turner’s older brother, P.J. Hairston was in there at the game tonight, coming in from Charlotte to see the Vikings and Tre and Tre hit a trey today/tonight…

Southern Alamance 70

Carrington Young 18 pts 8 rebs
Shane Forbes 12 pts 7 rebs

  1. Another great game by both Smith’s teams. I see more team ball being played.Pratt, miles, Simpson, scurlock and some others have definitely been working on their games from last year.JJ Watson being gone I thought was a big loss but looks like the team is belong well. I can’t wait to them play page and dudley this year.

  2. Huge win by EG. Page will be okay without Graves kid. Morehead boys win over WG was not as close of a game as the final score indicates. tayloy kid for WG is the truth. Guards are young for WG and they will be okay as the season goes.

  3. Northwest is extremely quick. They run 4 guards and a big. Jalen spicer running the show tonight and had a smooth 24 points. I think he hit 4 or 5 3 pointers. That jumper looked great. Jalen gore did a little bit of everything. Sam Covington with some deep 3s and was HOT. Thomas Hennigan with multiple steals, layups, rebounds and hustle plays. That kid is athletic. That team is very impressive and plays extremely hard. They got every 50/50 ball and all rebounded the ball by commitee. They Could make some noise in March this year.

  4. That freshman post from northern ran the floor like a deer. She was having her way with northwest post defense. Northwest has s few girls but none of them could run with the freshman from northern. Both of these teams are strong. Northern has size and northwest has the guard play. Northwest hit key free throws down the stretch when they went to run the clock out. Should be a good rematch at northern next week for both the girls and boys.

  5. For the Grimsley boys in their win over Mount Tabor:
John Puryear 16, Mason Moore 15, Mike Featherston 14, Aaron Wiggins 13, Nick Moore 5, Jayme Williams 4, RJ Cheston 3…

Had forgot about John Puryear being back this year, and with the other returnees, Grimsley ought to be OK for themselves….

  6. Northwest boys were impressive. Not much size but they were well coached, fast, played with intensity, and shot the lights out. Not a team I’d want to play in the postseason. If they get hot they can beat anybody!

  7. I wonder if the Page kids where disheartened at the loss of Ty Graves, that was kind of a deflater for them.
