Also from Monday night:Davidson Day 69, Caldwell Academy 47…Caldwell(1-7)…John Brewer with 13 and Nick Brown with 12 points for Caldwell Academy…

Tonight at the Bob Sawyer Gymnasium on the Grimsley High School campus we had these results for you….
Girls Final:Grimsley 45, Ragsdale 26/Boys Final:Grimsley 60, Ragsdale 36….Men’s hoops action at the Greensboro Coliseum:High Point University 76, UNCG 68
(John Brown very tough for HPU and he pretty much always is…Crazy is, HPU nearly beat the Clemson Tigers the other night.)

From the Grimsley girls game with the Whirlies taking the victory 45-26, after going up 33-22 at the end of the 3rd Quarter, you had for Grimsley:
Little with 11, Ramsey had 9, Peterson 6, Miller 5, plus Gillespie, Leonard and Smith had 4 points each and Jones added two for Grimsley…

Ragsdale girls broke it down like this with Rawlingson going for 11, Fleming had 6, Cranford 4, Williams 2 and Dessaure had 1…

In the boys game we saw Grimsley up 18-5 end of the first quarter, It was Grimsley 35, Ragsdale 10 at the half, 49-24 at the end of the 3rd Quarter and your final:Grimsley 60, Ragsdale 36…

For Grimsley you had John Puryear with 21 points, Mike Featherston added 11, Nick Moore knocked down 9, Williams had 7, Wiggins 4, Mason Moore hit for three points, Cheston also had three and Miller and Wright had one point each….

Ragsdale numbers read like this with T.J. Parker top man with 13, Drayton had 10, and brother there was a big drop-off after that with Love at 3 pts., Tevin Quick, little man Free and Dillard with 2 a-piece, while Ali and Stringfellow had one point each for the Tigers….

*****If I was hearing right, Ragsdale at Western Guilford on Tuesday, while Grimsley has High Point Central next and I think that game is on Wednesday and Grimsley is also in action on Friday of this week, with the Whirlies at Western Guilford….Busy week for many our teams and we got word that it will be Smith with Coach Partee and Coach Waddell at High Point Andrews tomorrow night and Smith takes on Ragsdale on Friday night, at Ragsdale…..Another game coming up is the Northwest Guilford at Northern Guilford game tomorrow night/Tuesday and that will be the rematch from last Tuesday, when NWG got the sweep at home over the Nighthawks, in the Roger Nelson Gym…

Team records at the end of the night:
Grimsley boys(3-0)
Ragsdale boys(1-1)
Grimsley girls(1-2)
Ragsdale girls(0-2)

Grimsley boys defeated both Burlington Williams and Mount Tabor by right around 17 points each and tonight the Whirlies win by 24 and that is a pretty substantial start, right there….

  • Richard said,

The PG at Ragsdale the one you referred to as “little man Free” his name is Brian Free or Brian “LoneRanger” Free. Even Ray Charles can see that he is little.

  • Whirley23 said,

Ragsdale couldn’t handle the ball at all.. They easily had 30 turnovers!

  • Ralph Waldo said,

Why is there no PA announcer at Grimsley?

  • Andy Durham said,

Grimsley had a student doing the PA two years ago and Mr. Mulvey did it last year….Coach Stanley does/announces the pre-game starting lineups, but then he has to run the clock after that….Not sure about plans for this year, maybe another Grimsley student will step up and take the mic….

Any interested students, let us know and we will be sure to pass the word along…..
