Elon Women’s Soccer Receives NSCAA Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Elon University women’s soccer team was rewarded as one of the top academic programs in the nation as the Phoenix earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the 2013-14 academic year.

Elon was one of 582 programs to receive the honor and one of 188 schools that had both its men’s and women’s teams recognized. This is also the 13th time that the Elon women’s program has claimed this honor (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013).

“I am very proud of our team members for being able to achieve at such a high academic level and for such a long time,” said Elon head coach Chris Neal. “It is nice to see them honored every year. We certainly could not do it without the tireless work of our academic staff led by Cayce Crenshaw. Over the past few years, Adam Hatem and Jayme Pendergast were also essential to our classroom success and we would like to thank them for all of their hard work as well.”

The Team Academic Award is presented to programs, which boast a minimum of a team GPA of 3.0 the previous academic year. The women’s squad had a 3.36 GPA this past academic year.
