The Cowboys had their home opener tonight as they hosted the Warriors of Wheatmore High School. The Cowboys last played a week ago in a blowout victory over Southeast High School, while the Warriors are coming off a loss in their last game this past Saturday to Carver High School. The Cowboys were looking to start off their home campaign of the 2014-15 season strong.

The Cowboys came out blistering hot with tremendous team defense and efficient offense. The Cowboys made it difficult for the Warriors all 94 feet of the court, sometimes not even allowing them to get the ball to mid-court. By the time the first stanza was over the Cowboys were dominantly ahead 34-3.

The second quarter started slower with the hosts sitting back in a zone, but was still able to capitalize on Warrior miscues and after a stalled offensive start, managed to put together some baskets to end the half up 57-11.

For the second straight game the Cowboys played the entire second half with the clock running due to the large margin. The second half was over very quickly as the Cowboys maintained complete control of the game with the entire team giving a great effort.

The final tally was 84-24 in favor of Southwest. The Warriors were led by Ryan Grant with 12 points. The Cowboys were paced by 4 players in double figures: Kam Langley with 17, 6 Stls, 4 Asts, and 4 Rebs, Kaymon Mitchell with 14, 6 Rebs, 3 Stls, Jace Yeoman with 10, 3 Rebs, 2 Stls, and Ben Ferguson with 10, 3 Stls.

The Cowboys turn right back around and travel over to play Northeast Guilford on the road tomorrow night. It will be a triple header with the JV girls starting it off with the Varsity Girls and Boys to follow.
