No Upset against the defending State Champions. Eagles fall to (2-3)

  3. Link below is the new USA Today rankings. Has Wesleyan at #2 in the country and Greensboro Day at #37. Not bad for Guilford County. Two teams in the top 50.

GDS game last night was not for the faint of heart. Not sure if it was great defense or terrible offense or a combination of both. But there were several college coaches in attendance and the kids from both sides played their tails off.

  4. The scouts were there for the Providence Day kids or maybe John Newman for GDS. I saw Stanford there for the Providence Day big guy but they also had 3 or 4 other guys that are D1 level players. I also saw several UNCG coaches, Guilford College coach and 3 different scout services. The coaches will come in buckets when GDS plays HPC, WES, Ravenscroft and possibly with Forsyth Country Day.

  5. It does not matter how many coaches are in the house. What matters is if you are not playing they are not there to see you.

  6. GDS Varsity boys-Providence Day game comment..I was in the house again for another great defensive effort from Freddy Johnson’s boys…Offensively they just could not get in rhythm, which I see a problem going forward against top teams like WES..They will hang with the big boys if they play solid D and hit the open shots..Several missed shots last night by Mcintyre, Dillard and Agba had a tough night in the lane with traveling…But the 9th grader John Newman played well..Several scouts showed up as they will continue to for GDS’s both ninth graders, Newman and Dillard for years to come…Go Bengals!!

  7. Basically another ho hum year from the publics and possibly a great year for 1 or 2 of the privates….

  8. @talent scout I am not sure having a team in the area ranked in the Top 15 in the country by most everyone is another ho hum year. There may not be much depth, but to have that kind of talent is pretty special. My opinion. May not be shared by others. Looking forward to January when the private school conference games start up. Always 6 of the best games of the year.
