GAME NOTES:
–Northwest Guilford applied constant pressure throughout the game and forced the Page Pirates to succumb to the tune of a 77-65 victory. The Vikings raced to a 23-13 lead in the first quarter and withstood a furious run from the Pirates as they cut the lead to 39-38 at the half.
–Jaylen Gore led a balanced Northwest attack with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Sam Covington scored 16 points while Jalen Spicer contributed 12 points and 8 assists. Kevin Henry chipped in with 11 points 3 steals and 3 rebounds.
–Trey Turner also added 7 points while pulling down 8 huge rebounds to go with 4 steals for the Vikings. Thomas Hennigan also had 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals.
–Diondre Overton and Jalen Seagraves paced the Pirates with 17 and 12 points respectively.

  1. Why isn’t Xavier Hill-Mais playing yet? The team needs him dearly. If this were another school w/ more marginalized players, a player of his caliber sitting in street clothes would make the front page news; lastly, Hill-Mais is a victim of coaches’ negligent attitudes and behaviors about certain hued athletes.

  2. It is unfortunate that Page has lost its 2 best guards. Every team needs a solid point guard. Page actually lost its best 3 guards from the previous year (1 to graduation and 2 due to transfers). I just wonder if either of the 2 transferring guards will actually get better college offers than what both of them may have gotten otherwise. I would be great if someone could do a story on these type of decisions which we often never hear about after kids leave their original assigned schools.
