College Indoor Track and Field Results – Guilford Competes in JDL College Kick Off Classic

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Guilford College men’s and women’s indoor track and field squads opened their 2014-2015 season Saturday afternoon, competing in the JDL College Kickoff Classic at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem. Institutions from all three NCAA divisions, including Old Dominion Athletic Conference schools, competed in the meet.

Trent Evans (Winston-Salem, N.C./R.J. Reynolds) took the best Guilford finish of the afternoon. The junior placed fifth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:00.96, fifth fastest in school history. The mark was .45 seconds from the third fastest finish in program history and .12 seconds off of fourth place.

Andris Goncarovs also took home a top ten finish for the Quakers. The senior placed sixth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 8:54.89. His finish was just .26 seconds outside of entry into the top five finishes of the race.

Yashua Clemons ran the second-fastest 500 meter run time in school history, finishing with a time of 1:14.95.

Tess Stryk led the Quaker women by breaking the school’s record in the 400 meter run by .73 seconds with a time of 1:07.17. The junior now holds four of the top nine best 400 meter run times in school history.

Sydney MacDonald (Greensboro, N.C./Western Guilford) surpassed her own best mark and the school’s second-best in the 500 meter run, set last year at the same venue, with a time of 1:35.46.

Khadija Carr also claimed a second-best time in program history, with a 300 meter run finish of 51.14 seconds. The mark is .91 seconds away from the top time in program history.

Molly Ann Marcotte finished 3.55 seconds away from the top four 3000 meter run times in program history with a time of 12:17.73.

The Quakers continue their season after the holiday break, returning to the JDL Fast Track for the two-day Winston-Salem State Open January 18th and 19th.
