HPU’s Stacia Robertson Named Big South WBB Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Redshirt-senior Stacia Robertson of the High Point University women’s basketball team was named Big South Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.

Robertson led the Panthers to wins over Longwood (81-60) and Presbyterian (54-49) to earn the program’s first 2-0 start in league play since the 2011-12 season. The forward averaged a double-double, scoring 21 points while pulling down 23 rebounds in the two games.

On Tuesday, Robertson tallied 10 points, seven rebounds, six blocked shots, five assists and two steals in the win over the Lancers. She one-upped herself on Saturday when she registered 11 points, a season-high 16 rebounds, six assists, five blocks and three steals as the team held off visiting Presbyterian. The Panthers’ forward ranks among the nation’s best in steals (7th, 3.57/g), steals (10th, 3.43/g) and field goal percentage (13th, .625) and is sixth in the conference in scoring (14.6/g) and fifth in rebounding (8.9/g)

Today marks the third time in Robertson’s career that the Grand Island, Neb. native has earned Big South Player of the Week honors. She won the honor once last season and once in her sophomore season.

Robertson and HPU return to action tonight looking to make it four straight wins overall and 11 consecutive inside the Millis Center when the team hosts UNCG at 7 p.m.
