HPU’s Robertson repeats as Big South WBB Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the second time in as many weeks High Point University women’s basketball’s redshirt-senior Stacia Robertson has been named Big South Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Robertson continued her stellar play posting 23 points, 12 rebounds, five blocks, three assists and two steals in the 78-67 win over UNCG on Dec. 8 inside the Millis Center.

The Panthers fell behind the Spartans by as many as 15 in the first half as Robertson picked up two early fouls. But the forward was able to play through the foul trouble as the Purple & White outscored UNCG 55-29 over the final 22 minutes to pull away for the win.

The game against UNCG marked the third straight for Robertson with at least 10 points, seven rebounds and five blocks. She picked up the same honors last week after averaging 10.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 5.5 blocks, 5.5 assists and 2.5 steals as the Panthers opened conference play 2-0 against Presbyterian and Longwood.

She is the first back-to-back winner in HPU history and this is Robertson’s fourth career Big South Player of the Week award, which ties her with Katie O’Dell and Cheyenne Parker for the most in Panther history.

HPU hits the road for a game at VCU on Thursday at 11 a.m. before traveling to No. 12 Nebraska for a game on Saturday at 4 p.m. in a homecoming of sorts for Robertson who hails from Grand Island, Neb.
