The Cowboys hit the road to High Point University to play the Bison of High Point Central. These city rivals squared off tonight in an early conference match-up. The Cowboys have won 7 straight against the Bison, and 11 of the last 12 dating back to 2010 and the Cowboys were looking to stay unbeaten this season.
It was an ugly, sloppy, and unmotivated game for the Cowboys. The Cowboys jumped out 5-0, but the Bison took advantage of a lethargic and generally slow Cowboys squad to close the gap and the first quarter ended 11-10 in favor of the Cowboys.
The second quarter was more of the same sloppiness and unforced turnovers, yet in spite of the uninspired play the Cowboys took a 31-20 lead headed into the break.
The second half was no different as the Cowboys just could not shake the cobwebs and every time they seemed to push the lead out they would turn it over some more. Again, their overall team speed allowed them to push the lead out to 52-35 after the third.
The final quarter was the same trend, and then the final 2:30 minutes of the game was a flurry of points scored by both team’s benches.
The Bison were led by Ali Qahar and Jo’el Jenkins with 10 apiece. The Cowboys were led by Kam Langley with 19, 7 Asts, 5 Rebs, 2 Stls, and Kaymon Mitchell with 15, 7 Rebs.
