AVIATION CAREERS JOBS FAIR SET FOR HAECO INVITATIONAL

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The 39th annual HAECO Invitational presented by NewBridge Bank will host its second annual Aviation Careers Jobs Fair on site during the final day of the tournament on Monday, Dec. 29, the tournament announced today. The annual high school basketball tournament, with a mission to raise money for charity and its participating schools, is also helping players and interested spectators explore a career in aviation through this event. The 2014 HAECO Invitational is set for Dec. 26, 27 and 29 at the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center.
Since its inception in 1976, the HAECO Invitational primary mission has been school fundraising but last year, the tournament added a new goal advocated by its title sponsor, HAECO Americas (“HAECO”), an aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul company headquartered near the Piedmont Triad International Airport. When the sponsorship was announced, HAECO chief executive officer Kevin Carter said that one of the company’s goals was to introduce local high school students and their parents to aviation as a potential career, and the tournament’s Aviation Careers Jobs Fair was subsequently created.

New this year, the Aviation Careers Jobs Fair will be located in the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center lobby. The Jobs Fair will be open from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 29 only. Personnel from each of the participating companies and schools will be available to answer questions and provide details about their companies and related careers in the aviation industry.
Companies participating in the Aviation Careers Jobs Fair are HAECO, HondaJet, Purolator Filters, Bridgestone Tire, Machine Specialty, Inc., Piedmont Triad International Airport, Guilford Technical Community College, the North Carolina Aviation Institute, the Andrews Aviation Academy and the Phoenix Academy Aerospace High School. Each organization will host an exhibit at the tournament where information will be provided about career options with the company and industry.

“HAECO is proud to continue its sponsorship of the Invitational and we are very excited to participate in the Aviation Careers Jobs Fair,” Carter said. “Our industry is facing a hiring challenge in coming years in critical technical and non-technical skills areas, and we are hopeful that many of the young people beginning their career search may find various aspects of our industry exciting enough to explore further.”
“We are delighted that HAECO decided to bring its Aviation Careers Jobs Fair back to our high school basketball tournament,” tournament co-chairman Worth Holleman said. “Since the HAECO Invitational was founded nearly four decades ago, the goal has been to raise money for charity and our participating schools. But with HAECO joining in 2012, we added to that mission and are now helping the student participants consider a career while they are still in high school, and that is a tremendous added benefit for them and their parents. We sincerely appreciate all that our partners at HAECO have done and continue to do to enhance the HAECO Invitational.”

For more than two decades, HAECO Americas has provided aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, engineering services and manufactured interiors products to customers throughout the aerospace industry. A part of the HAECO Group, the company is recognized as one of the largest independent providers of airframe MRO services around the globe. Over the years, HAECO has grown beyond its core airframe, base maintenance business by adding engine MRO services, aircraft seat manufacturing and PMA parts, comprehensive engineering design and interiors manufacturing through its HAECO Cabin Solutions division and line maintenance services at a large number of airports across the U.S. More information about HAECO can be found at www.haeco.aero.
