Game Report with Southwest Guilford-Western Guilford at Sheetz Christman Classic:Kam Langley with 28 pts., 14 Rebs, 5 Stls, 3 Asts in win by SWG Cowboys

Day 2 of the Sheetz Holiday Classic concluded with the boy’s semi final matchup of the Western Guilford Hornets versus the Cowboys of Southwest Guilford. The Hornets are riding a 2 game winning streak, while the Cowboys are currently on a 2 game skid. The last time these two teams faced off it was also in the semi final match-up of this same tournament 2 years ago. It was a 98-97 overtime win for the Cowboys en-route to the title. Once again the Cowboys jumped ahead early, this time up 10-3 in a blink. The Hornets dug in and clawed back into it at 15-10 by the 1:22 mark. But the quarter ended there as both teams couldn’t finish on either end. The second frame was an up tempo back and forth affair with the Hornets even gaining the lead 21-17 for the first time since being up 1-0. But the quickness of the Cowboys on the defensive end and the unselfishness on the offensive end that had been eluding them during their skid forced the momentum back in their favor. The lead stayed in double figures all the way to the break at 44-34. The second half showed more good team basketball by the Cowboys as the controlled the game in the final 16 minutes with pressure defense and good ball movement on the offensive end. The lead ballooned to 20 and hovered in the teens for the rest of the evening despite the Hornets ending the game on a 7-0 run cutting the final tally to 79-67. With the win the Cowboys will face Southern Alamance in the Championship game at 8:00pm on Monday night. The Hornets were led by De’Shawn Taylor with 19. The Cowboys had a great all around team effort including: Kam Langley with 28, 14 Rebs, 5 Stls, 3 Asts, Ben Ferguson with 15, 2 Stls, 2 Rebs, 2 Asts, KJ Langley with 14, 3 Stls, 3 Asts, and Kaymon Mitchell with 12, 7 Rebs, 5 Asts, 3

  1. My Cowboys have been sluggish this whole holiday tournament season. By far the worse they’ve played all year!!
