We did not get anyone on Jim Stoudt and CBS/MaxPreps.com list, but we can look at their list and then also look at our Guilford County products….

CBS/MaxPreps.com Top 8 Point Guards in the USA… Aliyah Mazyck from Myers Park High School in Charlotte is in here and she has committed to play at Southern California and that is not swiss cheese right there….Good stuff….

A look around Guilford County at some of our own local point guards and you can not go wrong with Hayley Barber and her Northwest Guilford Vikings…They are (15-0), as Barber makes the cut and leads the charge…The freshman Lindsay Gauldin will be a good one too in the future…Barber will give you an effort that you will not regret and her work should take her team to the top and give them a good opportunity to go very deep in the playoffs….

Essence Abraham at Dudley is one of the best point guards in the state and you would need to be prepared to pay on the way into the game and also on the way out, if you got/get the chance to see NWG and Dudley/Barber and Abraham go at it in the playoffs….Essence is very strong and I saw her get knocked up under the bench in a game at Page last year and she still came back out later and battled…Abraham can get physical and she can take the heat on most nights….Barber has a very steady demeanor and it takes a lot to get her rattled and it doesn’t happen very often…A Barber-Abraham meeting needs to happen and it will, if we can get Dudley vs. Northwest Guilford later on in the year, in the playoffs…

More to follow with Leeaysia Williamson at Eastern Guilford…Williamson might have had the very best week of all, last week, as she led her team to wins/victories over Eastern Alamance and Rockingham County, two of the very top teams in the Mid-State 3-A Conference…..RC, Northern Guilford, Eastern Guilford, Rockingham County, Burlington Williams, Eastern Alamance….Take your/make your pick and Eastern Guilford behind Leeaysia Williamson is right in the thick of the race…Williamson wears the #1 and she might just be the #1 point guard in the Mid-State 3-A…

Lashonda Monk at Southwest Guilford has her hands full this season trying to help her Cowgirls keep up with the Northwest Guilford Vikings in the Piedmont Triad 4-A Conference….Hayley Barber has a great support system at Northwest with Toni Tucker, Savannah Neas, Catherine Moore and those are just the guards….Monk has to make sure she stays in games and does not foul out, because when SWG loses Monk, they tend to lose the games…Monk is quick, Monk can drive and Monk can play stretch defense….

Tamera Thorpe has been playing a hybrid point guard for the Greensboro Day School this season and she has been able to run the point and still run the table and her BenGals team when it comes to scoring….Thorpe is as good as anybody around when it comes to getting to the basket and with all of her slicing and slashing, she is still cashing in on wins, as her team sits at 17-18 victories on the season….Thorpe seems to have found her spot/home at the point in 2014/2015…..Thorpe can still hit that long/outside three-pointer if she has the time to get warm with the game on the line and she better be ready to hit the foul line too, ’cause she will get at least 10 chances per game to shoot free throws…

Sydney Wilson at Northern Guilford is your kid that can do it all for her team…It is almost hard to visualize the Northern Guilford Nighthawks without Wilson at the point…Very steady and very smooth and like most guards when they reach their senior year, she is ready to help her team and become even more involved in the team scoring, as the year advances and she knows when to take the shot and that is not easily learned….Wilson gets along real well with her senior teammate Kasey Johnson and the two pretty much know where each other is, at all times during the games and Wilson knows what her team needs to win, long days/nights of practice and more minutes with each passing week…You have the option of playing 32 minutes and Wilson needs to be in there for at least 29-30 of those regulation minutes and I bet she will…..Student of the game and soon-to-be graduate of the game….

Roxanne Pfenning at Page is starting to come around and so are the Pirates….As Roxanne has become more rock-solid, the Pirates have been digging in and they seem to be “digging” how she is playing and what she is doing….Pfenning got hurt in the game with Grimsley the other night and the Pirates turned toward Emily Casper and others to run the show while Roxanne was on the ‘Rocks’….Page can have Pfenning, Casper(Emily), Ava Casper, or a combination of the Kargo Kids out front, but they seem to see the offense churning when Pfenning is at the controls…Even Tiana Sherman will take the reins on occasion, but Pfenning seems to be the point of interest for the future, at Page…

Got to see SEG, to give you a full PG/point guard breakdown on the Falcons……Do we have more we need to evaluate…What about NEG, not sure about who is running the point for the Rams….Who is the point for High Point Andrews…We know the Red Raiders are having a great season, but who is the point???

Do you agree or disagree, with the points that we have made here this evening/today???

  1. I may be wrong but I think Destiny Timberlake runs the PG at High Point Andrews should be a good game tonight agaisnt Dudley.

  2. She’s been in and out of the lineup for various reasons this season, but don’t sleep on Jazlin Taylor at Andrews. She’s already got one state championship ring.
