GREENSBORO, NC – Greensboro College Director of Athletics Bryan Galuski announced on Monday afternoon that Jim Cantamessa has been promoted to Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach.
Cantamessa came to Greensboro College as an assistant coach at the beginning of the 2010 season. During his five seasons with the Pride, he has helped lead the men to a 68-54 overall mark along with three conference championship game appearances. Also, Cantamessa has been responsible for the recruitment of seven All- Conference Players as well as the programs first South Region Rookie of the Year.
“I am very fortunate to have Jim on my coaching staff. Over the past five seasons Jim has demonstrated outstanding basketball knowledge and organizational skills, proven to be an excellent recruiter, and has provided a positive personality contagious among our players,” said Galuski, “Jim is someone who every head coach wants sitting next to him on the sidelines. He is more than deserving of this promotion.”
Prior to coming to Greensboro College in August of 2010, Cantamessa played eight years of professional basketball in Europe. He played for teams in France, Germany, Portugal, and Belgium. Cantamessa was also a Euro All-Star in 2008 while serving as a member of the Belgian national championship team in 2005.

I have been very lucky to be mentored by Bryan over the past five seasons and hope to keep learning as my career moves forward at Greensboro College. A native of Beaver Falls, Pa., Cantamessa attended Siena College where he played for Coach Paul Hewitt and led the nation in three-point shooting in 1997. Jim resides in Charlotte, NC with his wife Kara Bitar, who is an attorney at Moore & Van Allen Law firm in Charlotte, NC.
