Elon Baseball Unveils New Class

ELON, N.C. – Elon University head baseball coach Mike Kennedy has announced a 10-player class that will join the Phoenix program for the 2016 season.

Joining the maroon and gold in the fall will be:

• Ty Adcock (Catcher – Oxford, N.C. / South Granville)
• Jordan Barrett (Left-Handed Pitcher – Margate, Fla. / Coral Springs / Polk State CC)
• Ryan Conroy (Right-Handed Pitcher – Rotonda West, Fla. / Lemon Bay)
• Mason Daniels (Right-Handed Pitcher – Gahanna, Ohio / Gahanna Lincoln)
• Cam Devanney (Infielder – Amherst, N.H. / Central Catholic)
• Kellan Elsbury (Left-Handed Pitcher – Zionsville, Ind. / Zionsville)
• Naushon Galbraith (Right-Handed Pitcher – Newton, Mass. / Dexter School)
• Kevin Henriksen (Right-Handed Pitcher – Glen Mills, Pa. / Westtown School)
• Ryne Ogren (Infielder – Devon, Pa. / Conestoga)
• Derek Pike (Left-Handed Pitcher – Independence, Mo. / Fort Osage / Maple Woods CC)

Adcock, who is 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, was named the 2014 Northern Carolina Conference Player of the Year and was a 2014 North Carolina Baseball Coaches Association All-State honoree. In 22 games during his junior season, Adcock hit .474 with three homers, 23 RBI and a 1.420 OPS. He also posted the eighth-highest on-base percentage (.631) among all North Carolina public schools. Defensively, Adcock threw out nearly 54 percent of would-be base stealer. Adcock has twice earned all-conference accolades and has helped coach Curt Watkins’ South Granville squad to state playoff appearances in each of the past three seasons. As a member of the Carolina Rockies, Adcock helped the program to a runner-up finish at the 2013 Dynamic World Series and a 45-4 record that season. Adcock was a 2013 Team USA Baseball NTIS 16U Mid-Atlantic finalist and participated in the 2013 Battle of the Border Showcase.

Ty is the son of William and Jennifer Adcock. His grandfather Vernon Strickland played baseball at North Carolina State University.

Barrett, who is 6-for-5 and 200 pounds, was a second-team all-county selection for coach Frank Bombales’ Coral Springs High program that won back-to-back district crowns. As a freshman at Polk State, Barrett went 5-1 with a 4.30 ERA over 60.2 innings. He started 12 games on the mound and appeared in a total of 15 outings in 2014. That year he struck out 46 hitters. In a win over St. Petersburg College he fanned six and walked just one in seven scoreless frames.

Jordan is the son of Michael and Jacqueline Barrett.

Conroy, who is 6-foot-3 and 175 pounds, posted a team-best 0.56 ERA during his freshman season. His performance helped lead coach Casey Hanrahan’s squad to a district runner-up finish in 2014. Conroy is an AP Scholar student. As a member of the FTB club program, Conroy posted a 1.26 ERA in the summer of 2014 and a 0.00 ERA during fall competition. The team, which has been ranked in the top-25 nationally by Perfect Game, appeared in the 2014 Florida Diamond Club tournament.

Ryan is the son of Skip and Karen Conroy.

Daniels, who is 6-foot-2 and 165 pounds, earned both all-league and all-district honors as both a sophomore and a junior. In 2014 he collected pitcher of the year accolades. His performance on the mound, including victories in the 2013 and 2014 district and regional title games, has helped lead coach Mike Shade’s team to final four state finishes in each of the past two years.

Mason is the son of Mark and Erin Daniels.

Devanney, who is 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, collected conference MVP honors as a sophomore and has twice been a league all-star. With Devanney’s help, coach Marc Pelletier’s team captured the 2013 Merrimack Valley Conference title. As a member of Northeast Baseball, Devanney was named a Perfect Game U17 WWBA All-Tournament Team member in 2014. Devanney was a teammate of fellow Elon signee Naushon Galbraith on the Northeast squad.

Cam is the son of Michael and Chris Devanney.

Elsbury, who is 6-foot and 175 pounds, struck out 40 hitters and walked only eight in 32 innings as a junior. In league games in 2014 he posted a 1.34 ERA and 0.90 WHIP for coach Jered Moore’s program. Elsbury has been named a Zionsville Scholar, which recognizes varsity athletes with a GPA greater than 4.0. He was a 2014 WWBA All-Tournament Team honoree while playing for the Indiana Bulls.

Kellan is the son of Ken and Lori Elsbury.

Galbraith, who is 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, was a teammate of fellow Elon signee Cam Devanney on the Northeast Baseball club team. While playing for coach Dan Donato at the Dexter School, Galbraith posted a 6-0 record with a 2.20 ERA in 2014. The previous year he went 5-1 with a 2.50 ERA. In 2015, he will serve as a team captain.

Naushon is the son of Paul and Janette Galbraith.

Henriksen, who is 6-foot-6 and 185 pounds, has earned three varsity letters while playing for coach Bob Corbett. Perfect Game ranked him as the 19th-best pitcher in the state of Pennsylvania.

Kevin is the son of Patrick and Sarah Henriksen.

Ogren, who is 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds, was a first-team all-league pick in 2014 after hitting .425 during his junior season. He was selected to participate in the 2014 Delaware County Carpenter Cup. Ogren helped lead coach John Vogan’s program to s 2014 state AAAA runner-up finish. While playing for All-Star Baseball Academy, Ogren hit .380 during the 2014 fall season.

Ryne is the son of Jeff and Karen Ogren.

Pike, who is 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, earned both first-team all-conference and first-team all-area accolades during his time as a prep for coach Chris Walker’s Fort Osage program. He also earned all-state honors as well as Examiner Player of the Year distinction. The team won league and district crowns in 2013. Pike has been an NJCAA All-Academic recipient. Pike spent his freshman season at Allen County Community College where he tossed a complete game in his lone appearance. In eight innings, he allowed two earned runs and struck out three.

Derek is the son of Gary and Glenna Pike.
