Southwest Report

The Cowboys of Southwest hit the road to face off against their rivals the Tigers of Ragsdale. Following a week off due to exams starting, both teams were eager to hit the game floor. The Cowboys are coming off a convincing victory over Glenn, while the Tigers are trying to rebound following a lopsided loss to Northwest. Who would have the upper hand in this heated rivalry? The Cowboys have controlled this rivalry in recent history, winners of 6 straight, and 8 of the last 9.

The Cowboys came out and jumped ahead 5-0, but a rivalry game will always be a game of runs. With that said the Tigers used their home crowd’s energy to spur them to tie it at 5 in a blink. The teams traded baskets with SW having the lead until three-pointer bounced in to give the Tigers be 13-11 with just over a minute remaining in the frame. The first quarter ended with Ragsdale holding the lead 14-13.

The second-quarter is when the Cowboys asserted themselves and push the lead to double digits and maintained The margin going into the half up 33-23. But the Tigers wouldn’t let their rivals run away with it as they scrapped and clogged to stay in it.

The third frame closed at 52–39.

The final quarter was never in doubt but Ragsdale kept it reasonable thanks to abysmal free throw shooting by the Cowboys. With that the game closed at 69–60 in favor of the Cowboys.
