College Indoor Track and Field News – Guilford Opens at Winston-Salem State Open

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Guilford College Indoor Track and Field opened up the two-day Winston-Salem State University Open at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem. The meet includes NCAA institutions from all three divisions and unattached runners.

Brandon Rothfuss claimed the best Guilford finish of the first day, finishing 11th in the 400 meter run with a time of 52.87 seconds. Amaris Clay finished side-by-side with Rothfuss to place 12th with a time of 52.89 seconds.

Tylin McAdams (Burlington, N.C./Southern Alamance) set the best mark in the 60 meter dash this season by .04 seconds, with a time of 7.18 seconds, which finished 18th in the preliminary race.

Molly Anne Marcotte led the women with their best finish of the day, placing ninth in the mile run with a time of 6:00.10, near three seconds away from the lead in the second-section race. Pasangi Perera finished nearby in 12th place with a time of 6:01.87.

Ava Nadel ran the third-fastest 5,000 meter run time in program history, finishing second with a time of 22:08.45.

A’Lexus Newkirk led Guilford’s sprinters in the 60 meter dash with a time of 9.13 seconds, the top Guilford time of the year by .13 seconds. Jennifer Thomas (Randleman, N.C./Randleman) placed right behind Newkirk with a mark of 9.19 seconds.

Becca Benfield near matched her previous mark in the weight throw at JDL Fast Track, finishing with a throw of 7.73 meters, .04 meters off high in the last meet.

The Quakers return to the JDL Fast Track tomorrow at 11 a.m. to compete in day two of the Winston-Salem State University Open.
