Marty Snider(WGHP) hosting 2015 Car Show today on NBC, plus news on Summers, Gavin and Barber

Several news updates today with the flip of the channels on the TV we saw Marty Snider, from High Point, N.C., hosting the 2015 National New Car Show today from Detroit on NBC….Marty attended High Point Andrews and has done tons of TV and radio sports work over the years and he will be part of the new NASCAR TV broadcast team on NBC, in 2015….Son of Joanne and Ed Kief from High Point, Marty has hit it BIG…

Snider worked as a sports reporter for WYFF, the NBC affiliate in Greenville, S.C. from 1993–94 and WGHP in High Point, N.C. from 1991–93. He began working for WGHP as an intern and was hired as a sports reporter and was on the air while he was finishing his senior year of college, at UNC-Charlotte.

We noted last week that James Summers, the former QB at Page High School, has moved on from Hinds Community College in Mississippi and he is now enrolled and play football at East Carolina in 2015….Now we learned on Friday that Jalen Gavin, a key DB, WR, RB and return man for the Pirates at Page, back in the Summers day, Gavin is also headed to East Carolina, from Wingate University…Gavin was the top return man for the Wingate Bulldogs this past season and he is will be leaving Wingate and he is checking in at ECU…Jalen will have to sit out one year, but he will be back in action and this time for the Pirates, in 2016….

One of the top guards in our area, in the realm of girls high school basketball is Hayley Barber at Northwest Guilford High School….Barber made the 2014 Haeco Invitational Tournament All-Tournament team and she has led her Viking team to a current record of (18-0) in 2015….Barber will do well, she knows the game and doesn’t mind putting the game on her back and carrying her team….Hayley Barber has committed to play college basketball for coach Wanda Watkins and the Campbell Camels….Barber from NWG to Campbell in the Fall of 2016…
