Vandalia Christian School and Fellowship Baptist Academy were both coming off of big roads wins from the previous Friday. Vandalia Christian School won at Sheets Memorial Christian. Fellowship Baptist Academy won at Roxboro Christian. Both VCS and FBA won pretty big during those games. They were both coming into the game Monday ready to play.

This VCS-FBA matchup has turned into some very nice games over the past few seasons. This series has gone back and forth in terms of wins for the schools. This game Monday night was played at Vandalia Christian. This was an advantage for the Vikings. They had the crowd behind them cheering them on. Both teams came out ready to play. They both played good games. The Vikings had the upper hand though. They played better basketball. FBA was never really out of the game, but it was obvious that Vandalia had more firepower on offense. VCS cruised on to the win at home against FBA. The game changer for Vandalia was that four of their five starters scored in double digits.

This may not seem important. In a fairly low scoring game, it is very important though. Two players really surprised me for the Vikings on the offensive end. The two players were Matt Hobbs and Bryson Gordon. I have followed the Vikings all year. I believe that these two players are the dark horses for the Vikings.

Cameron Alston, Jarred Talley, and Noah Dunn are always going to get their statistics and attention of opposing teams. Matt Hobbs and Bryson Gordon are going to have to be key for the Vikings going down the stretch. If these players are playing well, the Vikings are going to be hard to beat. This was the case against Fellowship Baptist. Hobbs and Gordon were the highest scorers for the Vikings.

I am pretty sure that this is the first time all year for that to happen. They both played so well on the offensive end and were hard to stop. I would say it was their best game of the year. It will be interesting to see if Hobbs and Gordon can continue to help the Vikings excel on offense along with teammates: Alston, Talley, and Dunn.
