GC Pride Softball Picked Sixth In USA South Pre-Season Poll

GREENSBORO, NC– Greensboro College, under the direction of first year Head Coach Becky Bishop, was picked sixth in the preseason coaches’ poll the USA South Athletic Conference announced on Wednesday. The Pride softball team finished last season with an overall mark of 20-19 while going 12-10 in USA South play.

Piedmont College was selected as the favorites to win the 2015 crown, while Averett University finished second in the voting with 131 points and the final two first place votes. Placing third in the poll with 120 points was last season’s tournament runners-up, Huntingdon College while Ferrum College came in fourth with 105 points. LaGrange College ranked fifth with 90 points and was followed in sixth by Greensboro College who grabbed 78 points.

The softball regular season gets underway on Feburary 19th when the Pride play host to Maine-Presque Isle.

The 2015 USA South Softball Tournament will be played April 17-19 at the Rocky Mount Sports Complex as a part of the USA South Spring Sports Festival in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
