Game Report: Boys Basketball – Southwest Guilford vs Glenn

The Cowboys’ road trip continued as they went over to face the Bobcats of Glenn High School. The first match-up between these conference foes was a convincing victory by the hosting Cowboys. Southwest heads into tonight’s tilt on a 5 game winning streak and still unbeaten in Conference play and are looking to keep their streak alive.

The Bobcats came out with fight as the teams traded the lead until a late surge of energy sparked a 10-2 run to end the frame for the Cowboys gave the visitors a 23-16 advantage.

The second quarter was back and forth, with Glenn going on short spurts that got them as close as 33-32. Once again a quick surge including a 6-0 run by the Cowboys pushed the lead back out to 39-32 at the 3:36 mark. The margin stayed there thanks to the Cowboys missing 12 free-throws and multiple missed layups. The first half closed at 48-41 still in favor of the Cowboys.

Glenn came out of half time motivated to get back into the game with a 4-0 run. The Cowboys seemed to wake up following this spurt, and pushed the gas pedal down and caused several turnovers in a row and in a blink the lead was at 20. A late free throw made the mark at 69-50 headed into the fourth.

The final frame was more Cowboys steaming ahead until the benches for both teams finished the game to the tune of a 86-73 road victory for the Cowboys.
