Elon’s Johansen Sets School Track and Field Mark at Hilton Garden Invite

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Sophomore Kimberly Johansen established a new indoor school record in the one-mile run today, Jan. 31, as the Elon University women’s track and field team closed out competition at the Hilton Garden Invitational inside the JDL Fast Track complex.

Johansen ran a time of 4:55.85, barley breaking the previous school record that was set last season by Allyson Oram (2011-14). The time was three seconds faster than Johansen’s previous indoor personal-record that she had a year ago.

In the 200-meters, Jennifer Esposito was in the top-10 with her time of 25.82. Sophomore Bre’anna Warren had a toss of 40’ 10.25” (12.45m) in the women’s shot put. Freshman Bryanna Hames had a throw of 39’ 8” (12.09m) in the event.

In the semifinals of the 60-meter hurdles, rookies Lydia Laws and Emily Dixon had times of 9.29 and 9.37, respectively.

The Phoenix travels to East Tennessee State next weekend, Feb. 6-7, for the ETSU Track and Field Invite.
