Game Report: Boys Basketball – Southwest Guilford vs East Forsyth

The Cowboys will finish the regular season on the road. Tonight’s trip was over to East Forsyth. The Cowboys are winners of 7 in a row and the Eagles are winners of 3 straight. The Cowboys won the earlier match-up in a back and forth affair. Whose streak would remain intact?

The Eagles came out early up 4-0. The Cowboys got on the board with a 3 pointer of their own. The teams traded baskets and the lead from there until a Southwest basket at the 4:10 gave the Cowboys the lead for good at 7-6. Back to back three pointers by the Cowboys made it 13-6. The Eagles kept fighting and the frame closed in favor of the Cowboys at 23-15.

The second quarter opened up all Cowboys, but a late 5-0 run by the Eagles cut the lead down to 34-28. A well executed play with under 30 seconds to play, the Cowboys finally put another basket in going into the half at 36-28.

The second half saw the Southwest lead get up to 50-35 by midway through. But once again the Eagles used a strong close of the quarter to cut it to 56-51 until once again a final bucket before the buzzer gave got the Cowboys lead to 58-51.

The final frame opened in favor of the Eagles as they used turnovers to get back into the game. In fact, the Eagles got it as close as it could get at 65-64 at the 4:07 mark. From there, the Cowboys got hot as Ben Ferguson hit a three. The Eagles made two free-throws, then KJ Langley hit back to back threes, then a pair of free-throws to pull away for a strong road conference win. The final tally was 82-69.

Cameron Mack led the Eagles with 27. The Cowboys put 4 players in double figures. Ben Ferguson had 22, 3 Rebs, Kaymon Mitchell with 15, 6 Rebs, 2 Asts, Orlando Smith with 15, 4 Rebs, 2 Asts, and Kam Langley with a double double 11, 11 Asts, 6 Rebs, 3 Stls.

Southwest stays perfect in the Conference at 9-0.
