Gus Mota Tabbed As Greensboro College Head Women’s Soccer Coach

GREENSBORO, NC – On Friday morning, Greensboro College Director of Athletics, Bryan Galuski, named Gus Mota as the Pride’s new Head Women’s Soccer Coach.

“I am excited to announce the hiring of Gus Mota as our new Head Women’s Soccer Coach,” said Galuski. “Throughout the interview process Gus exhibited that he is the right coach for the job. His enthusiasm, determination,, care for student-athletes, and excitement to be at Greensboro College was readily evident. Gus will do a fantastic job mentoring our women’s soccer players on and off the soccer field. I welcome Gus and his fiancé, Bailey, to Greensboro College and our athletic department.”

Mota comes to Greensboro College from Sam Houston State University where he served as an assistant coach, goalkeeper coach, and recruiting coordinator for the Bearkats. Prior to joining the Sam Houston soccer staff, Mota worked at Southeastern Louisiana, South Carolina, and Southern Wesleyan University where he also served as their recruiting coordinator.

During his tenure as a recruiting coordinator, Mota recruited a nationally ranked recruiting class at the University of South Carolina that produced two Conference USA Championships and a NCAA berth leading to an appearance in the sweet 16. Mota has also been credited with recruiting six all-conference performers and four all-region members.

Mota has coached for three club leagues including, Clemson Anderson Soccer United, DOC of Lower Lexington Soccer Club, and South Carolina United.

I want to thank Bryan Galuski and Robin Daniel, along with the entire search committee for the opportunity to be the next head women’s soccer coach at Greensboro College,” Mota stated. “I am grateful for the opportunity to assist under Head Coach Tom Brown at Sam Houston State University, and thank him for furthering my education. I will always be thankful for his guidance.”

Mota graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education in 2010.
