HIGH POINT, N.C. – Sophomore Michael LeClair of the High Point University men’s lacrosse team was named Southern Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
The Elkridge, Md. native led the Panthers with six points (2g, 4a) in the 16-13 setback against No. 3 Duke. That performance came after a three-point outing in a 15-10 win over Delaware on Feb. 1.
The attackman is second in the conference with 4.50 points per game, behind HPU junior Matt Thistle. Meanwhile, LeClair and Thistle are tied for the league lead in assists per contest (3.00).
LeClair becomes the first player to claim the honor in the conference’s inaugural season. He won the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week award last season after posting seven points against UMBC on March 15, 2014.
