College Baseball Final – Guilford 9, Averett 3

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College scored seven of their nine runs in the final three innings to lift the Quakers past Averett University, 9-3, Wednesday afternoon in Guilford’s first home game of 2015.

Both teams were tied, 1-1, after the first four innings before Jacob Roberts hit a triple down the left field line all the way to the wall to re-claim the Quaker lead, 2-1. After Averett countered the next half inning to tie the score again, the Quakers scored four un-answered runs over the next two innings to create distance from the Cougars. After another Averett run in the top of the eight inning, Guilford added three insurance runs in the bottom half of the frame the secure the win.

Roberts finished the afternoon 3-for-5 at the plate with a double, triple, and two RBI. Logan Jones also drove in two runs on his 2-of-5 outing at the plate.
