More on the college baseball from this past weekend:Lenior-Rhyne is off to an (10-0) start/Hunter Allen(NWG) with a good weekend for William Peace

Lots of college baseball from this past weekend, but you won’t see much going on over the next few days, so here are a few more names to chew until, until they are able to hit the fields again, maybe this weekend….

That Lenior-Rhyne record at (10-0) really reaches out and grabs you and Marcus Shoemaker is doing very well for the Bears, after going 8-8 vs. Tusculum this past weekend…Shoemaker is at .433 for the season and Lenior-Rhyne is off to their best start in 19 years….Shoemaker in left field for the most part and another part of the Bears’ team are David Newcomer(Trinity HS), McKinley Stanbery(East Forsyth), Devonte Mason(Southern Guilford) and W.J. William Jessup(Westchester Country Day)….You got to say that Shoemaker is really getting it down up there in Hickory(L-R), as a freshman, with the Bears….

Jaylin Davis(Northeast Guilford) is in his junior year with the Appalachian State Mountaineers and he went 1-3 with a BB in a loss([5-3] by APP to Davidson in ASU’s first game of the year, this past weekend…In Game Two of the weekend, Davis was 2-3 with a run scored and 2RBI, as Appalachian State downed Villanova 5-2….Davis batting .429 on the early season….Caleb McCann(Northeast Guilford HS) is now a pitcher(RHP) for Appalachian and went 1 inning on Saturday, giving up 1 run on 2 hits, with 1 BB and 2 K’s….McCann now working from the bullpen for Appalachian….

Josh Tobias(Southeast Guilford HS) played in 2 of the 3 games for the Florida Gators this past weekend and the Gators are off to a (3-0) start….Tobias is now a senior third baseman and was 0-3 in Game with 1 run scored and then he went 1-2 in Game Two with 1 run scored…Tobias did not play in Game Three of the weekend series with Rhode Island….

If you know of some more names out there let us know and will look them up and write them up….

+++++Hunter Allen(Northwest Guilford HS), a second baseman for the William Peace Pacers down in Raleigh, had himself a good weekend and he is beginning to take that second base spot and work to make it his own….Allen in the last game of the weekend vs. the Ferrum Panthers:Hunter Allen 2b going 2-3, with a run, an RBI and a Double….+++++

  1. New coach at LR is rising this program and is getting quality players in Hickory. The younger Shoemaker has committed there also! I believe they may also have a Ragsdale kid commited also?

  2. LR is on the way up.. Coach Fleenor is recruiting some top talent. The Bears are ranked in the top 20.
