FOREST, Va. – Guilford College senior Rachel Howard (Efland, N.C./Cedar Ridge) collected the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s Softball Hitter of the Week Award Monday. She is a first-time winner of the league’s weekly prize and the Quakers’ first student so honored this season.
Howard hit 4-for-7 in Guilford’s season-opening doubleheader at Meredith College Feb. 14. She was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in the Quakers’ 7-4 loss in the opener. Howard helped Guilford rebound in the nightcap by going 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI. She is hitting .571 with four RBI and a double after two games.
Coach Dennis Shores’ Quakers (1-1) open their home schedule this weekend with a doubleheader with William Peace University Saturday (2/21) and Averett University on Sunday (2/22).
