GC’s Jordan Powell Named to D3Baseball.com Team of the Week

GREENSBORO, NC – D3Baseball.com released their first team of the week honors of the season on Tuesday afternoon. The Pride’s shortstop, Jordan Powell, became the first Pride player in the past seven years to earn the honor.

Behind the leadership of Powell, the Greensboro baseball team is off to their best six game start (5-1) since the 2002 season.

Over the course of the first six games of the season, Powell has powered his way to a .517 batting average. In his early season serge, Powell has recorded a team high thirteen RBIs along with three doubles and one triple.

“The honor of being named to the D3Baseball.com team of the week is truly well deserved,” Pride Head Coach Jonathan Nichols said of Powell’s honor. “Jordan has played an integral part in our early season success. He has come up in big spots throughout the first six games and has come through driving in big runs.”

Powell and his Pride teammates will return to the diamond this weekend when they travel to Maryville, TN to take on the Scots of Maryville College in a three game series. The first game of the series is set to get underway at 7:00 PM Friday night. For the latest in Pride Athletics, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
