College Baseball Finals – Frostburg State 3 – 8, Guilford 0 – 0

THOMASVILLE, N.C. – Guilford College dropped a Saturday afternoon doubleheader to Frostburg State University at Finch Field. The Bobcats took game one, 8-0, and the nightcap, 3-0. The doubleheader was part of a three-game set added to the Quakers’ schedule just before the weekend as a result of winter weather canceling several contests.

Ricky Brady drove in two runs for the Bobcats in game one, the lone Bobcat with a multi-RBI afternoon. Ricky Castro finished the doubleheader 3-for-5 with a double while Kam Stewart added another double on his 3-for-7 afternoon.

Bennett Schiltz (1-0) earned the game one win for Frostburg State. Schiltz threw six innings and gave up two hits while striking out six and walking two while Kyle McCormick relieved Schiltz in the final inning to give up one hit while fanning one and walking one. Clayton Freimuth garnered a no-hitter in game two, striking out 14 batters and walking three.

John Todd (0-2) took the game one loss for the Quakers, throwing three innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits while striking out five and walking one. Darin Salter followed for the next two innings, giving up five runs (three earned) on four hits while fanning one. John Bishop completed game one for the Quakers, throwing the final inning, giving up one hit and striking out one. Chase Shuford (1-1) took the game two loss, throwing three innings while giving up three runs on five hits, striking out four batters, and walking three. Andrew Martin relieved Shuford and threw three one-hit innings, striking out one and walking two.

The Quakers (3-4) finish up their three-game set with Frostburg State tomorrow at 1 p.m. inside Finch Field.
